Identiscentory -Sonic- (Kilburn Edition)
Integrating various artistic and design elements, including interactive technology and sensory experiences, Identiscentory – Sonic- aims to foster the exchange of knowledge within the unique social and cultural landscape of Kilburn. By merging art, interactive elements, and AI technology, the project creates a narrative space that engages participants on multiple levels.
In the specific context of Kilburn, cultural connections are reinforced through olfactory stimuli, tailored to Irish cultural groups, as scents deeply rooted in cultural memory evoke shared experiences among residents. Leveraging this sensory aspect, the project facilitates a deeper exploration of Kilburn's social and cultural heritage.
Moreover, oral narratives collected from local residents serve as the foundation for an interactive archive, akin to the Oral History collection at the British Library. These narratives, stored within the local library, provide a platform for preserving and sharing the rich stories of Kilburn residents.
The primary output of the project is an immersive exhibition experience where participants can engage with the narratives of local residents. Through interactive storytelling and sensory stimuli, visitors are not only exposed to the stories of the community but also encouraged to contribute their own experiences to the archive. This interactive exchange fosters community cohesion and allows the collective narrative of Kilburn to evolve.
Identiscentory – Sonic represents a novel approach to knowledge-sharing, emphasizing the relevance of local stories and cultural heritage to the Kilburn community. By intertwining art, technology, and sensory experiences, the project creates a dynamic platform for cultural expression and community engagement.
